How Journaling can Improve Your Mental Health

Does Journaling Really Improve Your Mental Health?

What Does Journaling Do For Your Mental Health?

Journaling can have many benefits for everyone, not just for individuals who struggle with their thoughts or like to write about their day to day life.

It allows you to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper. Most of the time you can just forget about what you have written and your mind is freed up for more important things.

How Do I Know If Journaling Helps?

I will admit that journaling isn't for everyone and some people can find it hard to get their thoughts down onto paper.

I know that from personal experience from when my psychologist suggested that I start journaling to track my thoughts and moods.
At first I found it difficult but after a few weeks I could fill pages with my thoughts and feelings.

You will know if journaling is helpful because you should feel some form of release and maybe feel a bit better, but like I said it's not for everybody.

How can I start Journaling?

It is very easy to start journaling, you can either buy a note book and use that as a journal or you can use the notes app on a phone or tablet for free. One of the benefits of using a digital journal is that it is easier to access and you can journal anytime you want, and phones are very portable. Whereas, note books can be big and not everyone would want to carry them around.

Types of journals that might be of use:
          • Mood journal/ Mood tracker
          • Daily life journal
          • Event tracker
          • Make it your own

I would Definitely recommend everyone to give journaling a try and if it doesn't help there are many other useful things that can help if you are struggling with your thoughts/ mental health.
